A challenging interdisciplinary topic of the assessment of the impact of atmospheric optical properties on terrestrial ecosystem functioning is to be tackled. The IOP period is assigned for March to November 2018 at the PULS PolWET wetland site in vicinity of Rzecin in Poland. A characterization of the atmospheric composition will come from a combination of the remote and in-situ instrumentation based on ground-based, airborne, and satellite platforms. The crucial instruments are the ESA Mobile Raman Lidar EMORAL, the LATMOS BASTA 95GHz Doppler cloud-radar, the Eddy Covariance 4.5m-high measurement tower, the CIMEL photometer, the static chamber sites for CO2, CH4 and H2O fluxes measurements, the extensive meteorological monitoring sensors (radiation, temperature, relative humidity, precipitation etc.), the WETMAN climate manipulation sites, as well as the drone/ballon in-situ aerosol profiling within boundary layer.
The mobility of the EMORAL lidar will allow for performing also short 2-4 weeks campaigns at other locations of the PolandAOD network, e.g. at the UW RT-Lab site in Warsaw, the Solar AOT site Strzyżów in Eastern Carpathian Range. A feasibility study on the validation of selected ESA missions, assessed based on the collected data assets (e.g. ADM-Aeolus, EarthCARE, Sentinels) will be done.
