A rotating water tank is a demonstrative device used to show the effects of rotation (Coriolis force) on a fluid. It is composed of a big transparent cylinder made from Plexiglas and a table powered by an engine with a regulated speed. By inserting dye into the fluid, different stages of mixing, and the effect of rotation can be observed. The fluid can be destabilized and/or a cylinder with water with different temperatures can be put in the middle of the tank to observe instabilities and the effect of the temperature gradient.
